According to an entry on the North Bend Police log for early Friday, Oct. 4, 12:48 a.m., Bandon area, "Hit Team Call Out" by Sheriff's Office.  News release from Coos Co. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, "At approximately 11:27 PM on October 3, 2013, the Coos County 911 Dispatch Center received at least two phone calls reporting an altercation at 87791 Bills Creek Road just outside of the city limits of Bandon. When officers arrived on the scene they found William Mathew Drews, age 42, and believed to be a resident of California, lying on the ground outside of the residence. Medical personnel were summoned to the scene. Mr. Drews was transported to Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon. Mr. Drews was declared dead upon his arrival at the hospital. Given the fact that this incident was described in the 911 calls and by witnesses at the scene as an altercation involving Mr. Drews, his death is being treated as a possible homicide.  As part of this investigation, the police have interviewed several witnesses and have identified a person of interest in this case. This person is identified as Bandon resident Coy Daniel Smith, who is 40 years of age. A photograph of Mr. Smith is attached to this release. The current whereabouts of Mr. Smith are unknown. The Sheriff’s Office is asking that anyone who knows the location of Mr. Smith to contact the Sheriff’s Office with that information. The public is encouraged to not contact Mr. Smith but to simply notify the Sheriff’s Office if he is observed.  The Coos County Major Crime Team has been activated. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency on this case. Officers from Coos Bay Police, North Bend Police, Oregon State Police, Bandon Police Department, Coquille Tribal Police and the District Attorney’s Office responded to assist in the investigation.  Anyone who has information regarding this case, especially the location of Mr. Smith, is encouraged to contact the Coos County Sheriff’s Office."

Warrant Service
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office.  "On 02 October, 2013 at about 2:02 PM, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a disturbance at the Huckleberry Hill trailer park, 91047 Cape Arago Hwy., Charleston, Oregon.  There the deputy contacted Kevin Fitzgerald, 21 years old, of Coos Bay who had an outstanding drug warrant from Coos County.  The Deputy was assisted by an Officer from the Confederated Tribal Police in arresting Mr. Fitzgerald.  During the contact with Mr. Fitzgerald he was seen trying to hide something which was later determined to be a large baggie of marijuana.  He arrested for the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor / Marijuana) under the new marijuana laws.  Additionally his probation officer placed a detainer on him for violating the terms of his probation.  He was transported to the Coos County Jail and booked."

Criminal Trespass
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office.  "On October 02, 2013, at about 2019 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to respond to 49034 Beach Loop Road Space #14, Bandon in response to a report of Criminal Trespass.  Upon arrival, the suspect, Robbley Ardoin was contacted as was the victim Melissa Owens.  As a result of the investigation, it was learned that Mr. Ardoin visited Melissa Owens to help her around the property,  Ardoin became obnoxious and Owens asked Ardoin to leave the property.  Ardoin refused to leave the property.  Ardoin was arrested for Criminal Trespass II and transported to the Coos County Jail and booked."

DUII
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office.  "On 09-28-2013, at about 0630 hours the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a wrecked vehicle on Libby Lane near mile post 2.5. ,Coos Bay.  When sheriff deputies arrived, they found the driver, 41 year old North Bend resident, Wendy Porter, was intoxicated and her car, 2004 GMC, 4 door, Sierra on its side in the ditch.  Coos County Sheriff Deputies arrested Wendy Porter on the charge of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants and transported her to the Coos County Jail where she had a breath sample of .18.  Ms. Porter’s nor her male passenger were injured in the accident."

Nude Trespasser
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office.  "On 29 September, 2013 at about 2:45 PM, a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a report of a nude trespassing female who was passed out inside of residence in the Bunker Hill area of Coos Bay.  Upon arrival, deputies located Lesli Thomas, 51 years old, of Coos Bay who had unlawfully entered a residence she had formerly been residing in by breaking out a living room window entering the residence and going to sleep inside of the house on the living room floor.  A work crew discovered her when they arrived to clean the house out and reported the incident.  Mrs. Thomas, who was still intoxicated, was transported to and lodged at the Coos County Jail where she was clothed and charged with Criminal Trespass I and Criminal Mischief III."

Lee Valley MVA
News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff's Office.  "On 29 September, 2013 at about 4:15 PM, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and Fairview Fire  was dispatched to a report of a single vehicle roll over crash at mile post 3 on Lee Valley Road near Myrtle Point.  Upon arrival, Deputies learned that Tyler Stewart, 23 years old, of Coquille was driving a 1978 Chevy Pickup when the vehicle left the roadway and the truck rolled over.  His passenger, 18 year old Samatha Slobodiak of Myrtle Point was transported to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  No citations were issued as the investigation continues."
